About Us
Macquarie Technology Business Incubator – MTBI – is an example of Macquarie University's commitment to nurture and develop businesses in our local community.
Launched in 2007, the Incubator provides a low-risk, dynamic and collaborative environment that fast-tracks the development of new technology businesses in the northern Sydney region. The incubator is located in the University's Research Park.
Business incubators nurture the development of entrepreneurial companies, helping them survive and grow during the start-up period when they are most vulnerable.
The goal of the MTBI is to create a low risk, dynamic, and collaborative environment that fast-tracks pioneering technology businesses in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney - Helping them to grow into financially successful companies in the community.
While it is well known that the majority of new businesses fail within 2 years, the success rate in the USA for those coming out of an Incubator can be as high as 87%*
The Macquarie Technology Business Incubator is the only incubator in the catchment area for the Northern Sydney region, which comprises Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, Manly, Mosman, North Sydney, Pittwater, Ryde, Warringah and Willoughby, and includes the Macquarie Park Corridor, a 10km corridor from North Sydney to North Ryde.
MTBI is located adjacent to Macquarie University and managed by Access MQ, the University’s commercial entity responsible for successful commercial ventures spun-off from Macquarie University - driving Australian Innovation forward.
MTBI offers its clients office space as well as Access MQ’s full suite of accounting, finance, marketing, IT and business advisory services. Access MQ’s unique relationship with the University gives incubator clients access to both its research and educational expertise.
